EXHIBIT: Museo ng Muntinlupa

“War of Our Fathers” Exhibit Opens at Museo ng Muntinlupa

MUNTINLUPA CITY – In honor of the 79th Anniversary of the Liberation of Muntinlupa, the Philippine Veterans Bank unveiled its World War II Exhibit, “War of Our Fathers: A Brotherhood of Heroes,” at the Museo ng Muntinlupa on February 7, 2024. The exhibit, which ran until February 20, 2024, was open to the public free of charge.

The exhibit was formally inaugurated by Philippine Veterans Bank President and CEO Renato A. Claravall and Muntinlupa City Mayor Ruffy B. Biazon. The event was attended by veterans, local officials, and community members, all united in their appreciation of Muntinlupa’s key role in World War II.

Featuring 52 panels of photographs, narratives, artifacts, and memorabilia from World War II, the exhibit serves as a vital channel for educating the public about the critical role played by Filipino veterans. Special panels highlight Muntinlupa’s significant role in Philippine history, particularly during the war. The exhibit emphasizes the guerrilla resistance movement, including the contributions of the Hunters ROTC and President Quezon’s Own Guerrillas (PQOG). It also underscores the strategic importance of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) as a focal point for resistance efforts, including successful raids and Japanese retaliation. These groups were instrumental in the liberation of Muntinlupa, highlighting the strategic importance of the town’s location, road network, and the NBP.

Veterans Bank President Claravall remarked, “This exhibit not only reminds us of our history but also honors the courage and strength of our veterans who lived through those challenging times. It allows our community to reflect on our past, appreciate our heritage, and come together to honor those who fought for our freedom.”

The exhibit stands as a significant educational resource and a tribute to the enduring spirit of Muntinlupa and its people during one of the most challenging times in Philippine history.
