PVB Unveils ‘War of Our Fathers’ Exhibit in Celebration of Cagayan de Oro’s 79th Liberation Anniversary
CAGAYAN DE ORO – In a tribute to the 79th Anniversary of the Liberation of Cagayan de Oro, Philippine Veterans Bank (PVB) proudly returned its award-winning traveling exhibit, “War of Our Fathers: A Brotherhood of Heroes,” to SM City CDO Uptown. This exhibit, on display from May 12 to June 23, 2024, highlighted the heroism and sacrifices of Filipino veterans during World War II.
Located on the 2nd Level of SM City CDO Uptown, the exhibit featured a compelling collection of photographs, stories, artifacts, and memorabilia from World War II. Special panels offered a focused look at scenes from Cagayan de Oro and Misamis Oriental, paying tribute to the bravery of local veterans who fought for freedom.
The exhibit’s opening was commemorated with a ceremony attended by PVB Director Percianita G. Racho, along with esteemed guests including former Congressman Constantino Jaraula, Marydene Ocot of the Misamis Oriental Provincial Information Office, Regional President Jose Paler of the Veterans Federation of the Philippines (VFP), Luisa Pellazar Revecho of the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO), and SM Mall Manager Mell F. Sagales.
In partnership with the Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental, the City Government of Cagayan de Oro, and SM City CDO Uptown, the exhibit provided an educational experience, giving visitors a chance to connect with the nation’s history and recognize the valor of Cagayan de Oro’s wartime heroes.
Open to the public and free of charge, the exhibit was accessible during the mall’s operating hours, drawing in a diverse audience eager to reflect on the legacy of Filipino veterans.
