EXHIBIT: Robinsons Butuan

Veterans Bank’s “War of Our Fathers” Exhibit Opens at Robinsons Butuan

BUTUAN CITY, AGUSAN DEL NORTE – In a heartfelt tribute to the heroes of World War II, Philippine Veterans Bank proudly presented its Traveling Exhibit, “War of Our Fathers: A Brotherhood of Heroes,” at Robinsons Mall in Butuan City. The exhibit marked a solemn remembrance of MacArthur’s Proclamation of the End of the Philippine Campaign in 1945.

The exhibit, which ran from July 6 to July 26, 2024, featured a rich collection of World War II photographs, maps, artifacts, and memorabilia. It aimed to honor the brave spirit and sacrifices of Filipino men and women who courageously fought for our nation’s freedom. Serving as an important educational tool, especially for the younger generation, the exhibit offered insights into the realities of life during the war and the exceptional courage displayed by Filipino veterans.

In collaboration with the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office, the Provincial Government of Agusan del Norte, the City Government of Butuan, and Robinsons Butuan, the exhibit included specially curated panels highlighting the heroic contributions of veterans from Agusan del Norte and the broader Mindanao region.

In addition to its historical focus, the exhibit introduced visitors to PVB’s new charter under Republic Act 11597 and paid tribute to modern-day Filipino heroes, including retired members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

The official launch of the “War of Our Fathers” Traveling Exhibit took place on July 6, 2024, at Robinsons Mall, with PVB Chairman Roberto F. de Ocampo, OBE, PVB Director Percianita G. Racho, and PVB-Butuan Branch Head Charito Villaflor leading the ceremony. The event was graced by Guests of Honor including Provincial Administrator Elizabeth Marie Calo, representative of Governor Ma. Angelica Rosedell Amante of Agusan del Norte, and City Councilor Hon. Rey B. Desiata, representative of Mayor Ronnie Vicente Lagnada of Butuan City. Members of the Veterans Federation of the Philippines (VFP) and PVAO Caraga were also present.

Open to the public free of charge, the exhibit provided an opportunity for all to connect with the nation’s history and honor the legacy of our brave veterans. The display attracted a diverse audience, including students, historians, and local residents, all eager to learn and pay homage to the valiant efforts of the Filipino heroes of World War II.
