Puerto Princesa, Palawan – April 22, 2025 —The Philippine Veterans Bank (PVB) took part in the commemorative activities for the 80th Palawan Liberation, joining the people of Palawan in honoring the bravery and sacrifice of Filipino World War II Veterans.
PVB OIC-President Eulogio V. Catabran III joined national and local officials in the Wreath Laying Ceremony at Higinio Mendoza Park, where he delivered a solemn tribute to Palawan’s wartime heroes. In his message, he shared:
“Solemn ceremonies such as what we had today remind us of the valor, sacrifice and selflessness of our veterans. We honor them because of what they did for our country, a privilege not accorded to many. The Heroes Wall that we unveiled this morning will memorialize the names of our World War II Heroes here in Palawan. Those who fought and defended our land so valiantly even at the cost of their own lives.”
Following the morning ceremonies, Catabran led the formal opening of the “War of Our Fathers” World War II exhibit at SM City Puerto Princesa. Organized by PVB in partnership with the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) and the Palawan Liberation Task Force. The exhibit highlights key events and figures of Palawan’s wartime history, including the 1944 Palawan Massacre and the formation of the Palawan Special Battalion.
PVB’s presence in these events affirms its continuing mission to preserve the legacy of Filipino veterans and pass on the values of courage, patriotism and unity to future generations.
