PVB Unveils ‘War of Our Fathers’ Exhibit in Honor of Cagayan de Oro’s 79th Liberation Anniversary

CAGAYAN DE ORO – In celebration of the 79th Anniversary of the Liberation of Cagayan de Oro, Philippine Veterans Bank (PVB) proudly presents the return of its multi-awarded traveling exhibit entitled War of Our Fathers: A Brotherhood of Heroes to SM City CDO-Uptown.

The mobile exhibit, focusing exclusively on World War II in the Philippines, will be on display at the 2nd Level of SM City CDO Uptown from May 12 to June 15. It features panels of photographs and narratives as well as artifacts and memorabilia from WWII as a tribute to all Filipino veterans. Visitors will appreciate the specially-curated panels that depict WWII scenes from Cagayan de Oro and Misamis Oriental and showcase the bravery and patriotism of the province’s veteran heroes.

The PVB exhibit, presented with partners Philippine Veterans Affairs Office, the Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental, the City Government of Cagayan de Oro, and SM City CDO Uptown, will open in a modest ceremony on May 12. PVB Director Percianita G. Racho will lead the inauguration, together with Guests of Honor Misamis Oriental Governor Peter Unabia, Congressman Rufus Rodriguez, and CDO Mayor Rolando Uy. Veterans Federation of the Philippines (VFP) members and mall representatives will also be present.

The PVB exhibit is open to the public and may be viewed during the mall’s operating hours.

A recipient of the prestigious Anvil and Gold Quill Awards, the War of Our Fathers exhibit has been displayed in schools, museums, malls and other areas in over 40 cities and municipalities in the country since 2006. It was also put on display at the Nanjing Museum in China in 2009.

Additional panels introduced PVB’s new charter, Republic Act 11597, as well as a tribute to our modern-day Filipino heroes that include post-World War II retirees of Armed forces of the Philippines.

Visitors to the exhibit will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the history that has shaped the nation and this is Veterans Bank’s channel for educating the public of the critical role played by Filipino veterans in WWII
