Centenarians honored in PVB’s 2024 ASM 

EIGHT (8) Centenarians were honored in Philippine Veteran Bank’s (PVB) 2024 Annual Stockholders Meeting on June 11, 2024 at the SMX Convention Center, three (3) of whom were physically present to personally receive their Plaque of Recognition and the cash incentive from the Bank. 

Coming all the way from Laguna, those who attended and were recognized by their fellow World War II veterans and other PVB stockholders, were: PFC Vicente H. Remoquillo, 100 years old, from San Pedro, who belonged to B Co 1st BN Hunters ROTC; PFC Alfredo B. Evangelista, 100 years, from San Pablo, who was a member of PQOG (F-23); and S/Sgt Visitacion C. Dichoso, 100 years old, from San Pablo, who served in ASN-Unk If “B” Co, 111 AC FAIT (GV/S). The three were applauded and cheered by the ASM participants, most of whom are heirs and descendants of WWII veterans, as they received their Plaque of Recognition and cash incentive from PVB Officials led by Chairman Roberto F. de Ocampo and President and CEO Renato A. Claravall. 

The five (5) other centenarians who were honored during the ASM are as follows: PFC Abello Ardiente Eler, 100 years old, from Iloilo City, who initially served with the Division Quartermaster, 61st Division, Philippine Army before joining the 6th Military District’s G-4 section (logistics); PFC Claro Oton Daulo, 101 years old, from Iloilo City, who joined the resistance and served with Quartermaster, 66th Infantry Regiment, 5th Military District as procurement personnel; Corporal Mamerto E. Pacarro, 102 years old, from Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte, who was assigned at the G Co 103 Infantry Regiment, 57th MPC Gag Misamis Oriental; Staff Sergeant Sotero P. Librero, 102 years old, from Compostela, Cebu, who joined the resistance initially with “B” Company, Adlaon Sector, Cebu Guerilla Force, and was later transferred to Headquarters and Headquarter Services Company, 1st Battalion, 86th Infantry Regiment, Cebu Area Command, and finally to “G” Company, 2nd Battalion, 43rd Infantry Regiment, Philippine Army which was charged with maintaining law and order in the liberated areas; and Major Alfredo Bacasong Jimenea, 101 years old, from Angeles City. Their Plaque of Recognition and cash incentive were sent through the PVB Branch nearest their respective residence. 

The recognition of surviving centenarians is an annual tradition being practiced by PVB during it annual meeting as a tribute to the bravery and heroism of the Filipino soldiers who fought during WWII and liberated the Philippines from the hands of the foreign enemies.

Abello Ardiente Eler
100PFC ABELLO A. ELER 086015 INF(INACT) –
Private First class Eler was inducted into the USAFFE on Dec. 17, 1941 and served initially with the Division Quartermaster, 61st Division, Philippine Army. His unit was in charge of distributing supplies and equipment to the attached 61st Division Unis, as well as preparing storage facilities for remaining war goods in anticipation of a long-term battle in Panay. After his unit was disbanded, he joined the 6th Military District’s G-4 section(logistics), which was tasked with securing supplies for the newly established guerrilla units. He was honorably discharged on March 27, 1946 and returned to civilian life.

101PFC CLARO O DAULO 058903 INF (INACT)-
Private First Class Daulo joined the resistance and served with Quartermaster, 66th Infantry Regiment, 6th Military District as procurement personnel. His unit was in charge in buying needed supplies such as food stuffs and medicines for the detached units of the 66th Infantry Regiment operating in the areas of Capiz. He was honorably discharge on May 10, 1945 and returned to civilian life.

Staff Sergeant Sotero P. Librero102“B” Company,  Adlaon Sector, Cebu Guerilla Force/Headquarters and Headquarter Services Company, 1st Batallion, 86th Infantry Regiment, Cebu Area Command (CAC)
 
Rendered wartime service from September 22, 1942 to February 1946, He joined the resistance and initially served with ”B” Company, Adlaon. Sector, Cebu Guerrilla Force under the command of Colonel James M. Cushing as a non commissioned officer. His unit performed combat and intelligence operations at Babag, Estancia, Torre Hills, and Mt. Cantilap. He was transferred to Headquarters and Headquarters Services Company, 1st Battalion, 86th Infantry Regiment, Cebu Area Command (CAC) and engaged in a series of combat actions at Baksan Hills, Agsoaw, and Catmon. When the American forces landed in Cebu, they were attached to the US 8th Army and mopped up the remaining enemy resistance in some parts of Cebu. He was later assigned to “G” Company, 2nd Battalion, 43rd Infantry Regiment, Philippine Army that was charged with maintaining law and order in the liberated areas.
